In September 2014 we embarked on a journey to record a concept album at The Grove Studios, an idea we’ve had for a while. Embrace was the first single to be released from the concept album called “Mother Mourned”, a personal story about our experiences growing up caring for mothers with illness and the emotional journey of working through innocence, despair, grief and release.
Embrace is about holding onto childhood innocence and embracing the inner child through change and turmoil. The track was produced with the help of Josh Telford, Paul Iannuzzelli, mixed by Peter Holz and mastered at Studios 301 by Steve Smart. It received radio play on community radio stations around Australia via AMRAP’s AirIT initiative.
A follow up single “Mother Daughter” was released in October 2015 to coincide with Mental Health Awareness month. It was also well received and received airplay through AirIT.
The full album, Mother Mourned was released in 2017 to positive reviews. We plan to provide more content in the future about the album, each song and the concept.
